Last Night’s NHL Playoff Highlights
Vegas Golden Knights 4, Edmonton Oilers 3 – Game 3
The Vegas Golden Knights reignited their playoff hopes with a dramatic 4–3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3. Reilly Smith scored the game-winning goal with just 0.4 seconds remaining, capitalizing on a deflection off Leon Draisaitl's stick. This marks the 3rd latest third period winning goal in NHL Playoff history with Nazem Kadri sitting first at 0.1 seconds left for the Aves in 2020 and Jussi Jokinen in second place at 0.2 seconds remaining for the Canes in 2009.
The clutch performance cut the Oilers' series lead to 2–1. However, the win came at a cost, as Vegas captain Mark Stone exited in the first period due to an upper-body injury. This leaves the Knights looking to regain home ice advantage and tie the series when the puck drops in Edmonton for Game 4 on Monday.
Carolina Hurricanes 4, Washington Capitals 0 – Game 3
The Carolina Hurricanes took a 2–1 series lead with a commanding 4–0 shutout of the Washington Capitals. Goaltender Frederik Andersen returned from injury to stop all 21 shots he faced, while Jack Roslovic contributed significantly with a goal and an assist to lead the Canes. The Caps as the one seed from the Metropolitan Division will also look to regain control of home ice with a win on Monday in Game 4.
