Mayhem On Ice As NHL Playoff Showdowns Hit Critical Phase

Mayhem On Ice As NHL Playoff Showdowns Hit Critical Phase

The 2025 NHL Playoffs are reaching the nitty gritty as teams vie for a spot in the Conference Finals. With pivotal games on the horizon, the spotlight is on the Vegas Golden Knights as they face elimination tonight.

Last Night's NHL Playoff Game

Winnipeg Jets 1, Dallas Stars 3 – Game 4

The Dallas Stars have taken a commanding 3–1 series lead over the Winnipeg Jets in the Western Conference Semifinals, thanks to a stellar performance by Mikael Granlund. Granlund notched his first career playoff hat trick, scoring in each period to propel the Stars to a 3–1 victory in Game 4. Goaltender Jake Oettinger was instrumental in the win, making 31 saves and stifling the Jets' offensive efforts. Despite a goal from Nikolaj Ehlers, the Jets struggled on the power play, going 0-for-3, and have now lost nine consecutive road playoff games. Goalie Connor Hellebuyck didn't help matters either as he continued his postseason slide now allowing 37 goals in 11 games.

The Stars are just one win away from advancing to the Western Conference Final for the third consecutive year. Game 5 is set for Thursday in Winnipeg, where the Jets will look to stave off elimination and keep their playoff hopes alive.

Tonight’s Games – May 14, 2025

Florida Panthers @ Toronto Maple Leafs – Game 5 – 4:00 PM PT

The Florida Panthers and Toronto Maple Leafs are set to clash in a pivotal Game 5 with the series tied 2-2 to reestablish an edge. Florida is coming off a Game 4 win at home where goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was stellar, stopping all 23 shots for his fifth career playoff shutout and 2nd this postseason. On the other side, Toronto's William Nylander has 6 goals and 9 assists over the past 10 games and will look to put the Leafs back in the driver seat of the series.

Edmonton Oilers @ Vegas Golden Knights – Game 5 – 6:30 PM PT

The Vegas Golden Knights face elimination in Game 5 at home against the Edmonton Oilers who lead the series 3–1. Vegas must rally to stay alive and force a Game 6 back in Edmonton which will be no easy task as they have matched up very similarly with each other all year.

To take a look back at the regular season stats the Golden Knights and Oilers split the regular season series at 2 games apiece with Vegas taking the first two games and Edmonton winning the last two.

Moving on to this postseason in their last 10 games the Knights are 5-4-1 with a 2.8 goal/game average while giving up 3.2 goals. The Oilers have posted a 7-3-0 record averaging 4.2 goals and allowing 3.4 goals per game. This makes Vegas' goaltender Adin Hill's performance one to watch as well as their big name goal scorers in captain Mark Stone and super star Jack Eichel who can quickly light the net but have been streaky this postseason.
