NBA Announces Major Change to the All-Star Game Format
The NBA is officially shaking things up again with a brand-new All-Star Game format designed to bring back competitiveness and energy to the league’s recently lackluster showcase event.
After years of experimenting with draft-style rosters and target scores, the league is moving to a play-in tourney style set up. With two USA teams and one World team, they will play a round robin mini tournament, with 12 minute time limits and the top two teams then facing in the Game 4 Championship. Each team will be comprised of 8 players and if the All Star selections do not evenly hit the 16 USA - 8 International players noted then commissioner Adam Silver will name extra players until each team has the minimum 8 players. The new structure hopes to reintroduce a competitive element as it has become a notable issue in the past.
It’s a clear signal the league heard the fan feedback loud and clear the All-Star Game should mean something again.
Mavericks Fire GM Nico Harrison After Disappointing Start
The Dallas Mavericks made headlines off the court this week, announcing the firing of General Manager Nico Harrison after a disappointing start to the 2025–26 season,
despite Team Governor Patrick Dumont having reportedly telling a fan that he felt bad about the Luka trade.
Harrison, hired in 2021 from Nike, helped guide the Mavs to 2 Western Conference Finals appearances but couldn’t maintain that momentum to take the title. Dallas is now launching an immediate search for his replacement, with several league executives and former coaches rumored to be in consideration.
For a team built around a hopeful up and coming superstar, the next hire could define the Mavericks’ trajectory for years to come.
