Two major lawsuits are putting the NFL's arbitration system under scrutiny:
Brian Flores vs. NFL
A federal appeals court has ruled that Brian Flores’ discrimination claims can go to trial in federal court, rejecting the NFL’s attempt to force arbitration overseen by Commissioner Roger Goodell. This decision strengthens Flores’ broader case alleging systemic bias in coach hiring.
Jon Gruden’s Legal Victory
In Nevada, the state Supreme Court ruled 5–2 in favor of Jon Gruden, allowing his lawsuit against the NFL to proceed in court, rather than in privately-controlled arbitration. Gruden alleges league officials leaked offensive emails to force his resignation. The NFL plans to appeal.
