NFL Preseason Week 3 Recap: Game Results & Key Takeaways
Thursday, August 21
Steelers 19 at Panthers 10 — Pittsburgh didn't see the need for Arron Rodgers to see any preseason time as both teams trotted out mainly backups.
Patriots 10 at Giants 42— New York was once again impressed by Jaxson Dart along with a three-TD performance from Tommy DeVito, as the Pats didn't dress their main guys.
Friday, August 22
Eagles 19 at Jets 17 — Philly again sat their key core while edging out New York, who likewise didn't give their starters the nod.
Vikings 13 at Titans 23 — Tennessee gave Cam Ward another quick look on the field with him going 3-4, but the Vikings, perhaps scared of a last year repeat, gave most of their starters the day off.
Falcons 13 at Cowboys 31 — Neither team seemed to buy into winning this one too much, as they both sat substantial players, along with Micah Parsons seeming less interested by the day.
Bears 29 at Chiefs 27 — In a Preseason Week 3 rarity both teams let their starters go for it while Mahomes produced 17 points and Williams put up 10 points.
Saturday, August 23
Ravens 30 at Commanders 3 — Neither team marched out their starters especially as this was before McLaurin remained without his new deal yet.
Colts 41 at Bengals 14 — No real action was seen by the either team's starters or even newly designated back up Anthony Richardson.
Rams 17 at Browns 19 — Cleveland saw action from 4 QBs on their roster with Flacco looking good, while Sanders not so much, but the Rams declined to play their core players.
Texans 26 at Lions 7 — Both teams seemed content in knowing what they have for starters as neither put them out their.
Broncos 28 at Saints 19 — Denver rolled out its starters who produced, while still in an ongoing QB battle NOLA didn't see a clear standout in either Shough or Rattler.
Seahawks 7 at Packers 20 — Green Bay still with Jordan Love recovering, played some starters like first round pick Golden, while Jalen Milroe got to take the entire game for Seattle.
Jaguars 6 at Dolphins 14 — Miami let Tua take the start while still showing sacks remain a real concern, but the Jags felt that their main group didn't need more work.
Bills 23 at Buccaneers 19 — Both teams gave their starters the day off as they look ahead to the regular season.
Chargers 23 at 49ers 30 — While neither team had their starters going, it was notable that Trey Lance made his return to the Bay, but all three of his drives ended in punts.
Raiders 10 at Cardinals 20 — Arizona didn't play their key players, but the Raiders let Geno go for one drive where he threw a TD.
Terry McLaurin Signs Big Extension with Commanders
Washington’s reliable WR, Terry McLaurin, has ended his NFL preseason hold-in with a three-year, $96 million extension, making him tied for the sixth-highest-paid receiver in the NFL at $32 million per year. He’s locked in just before the regular season opener, giving QB Jayden Daniels a proven top target.
