NHL Playoff Chaos: Florida Evens, Dallas Embarrasses Hellebuyck, and Tonight’s Clashes Could Flip It All

NHL Playoff Chaos Florida Evens, Dallas Embarrasses Hellebuyck, and Tonight’s Clashes Could Flip It All

Yesterday's NHL Playoff Highlights

Dallas Stars 5, Winnipeg Jets 2 – Game 3

The Dallas Stars took a 2–1 series lead with a commanding 5–2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets. After putting in two goals in the first period, the Stars erupted again with three goals in the third to seal the deal and go up in the series at home. Goaltender Jake Oettinger made 24 saves, stifling the Jets' offense. Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyck continued to disappoint in the NHL Playoffs while allowing 5 goals. The Jets' goalie has now let in 34 goals in only 10 games this postseason at a rate of 3.51 per game while in the regular season he helped the Jets to the Presidents' Trophy while only allowing 125 goals in 63 games for a 2.01 goals against average. After giving him a huge contract extension last year the Jets surly are feeling the repercussions and even questioning their decision as he continues to perform below standards. The Stars will aim to put the Jets' back against the wall and take a 3-1 series lead at home in Game 4 on Tuesday.

Florida Panthers 2, Toronto Maple Leafs 0 – Game 4

The Florida Panthers evened the series against the Toronto Maple Leafs with a 2–0 shutout in Game 4. Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was stellar, stopping all 23 shots for his fifth career playoff shutout and 2nd this postseason making him the only goalie so far to record multiple shutouts in the playoffs this year. Carter Verhaeghe and Sam Bennett provided the offense, each netting a goal. The series now shifts back to Toronto for a pivotal Game 5 on Wednesday as the series now sits as a best of 3 games.

Tonight’s Games – Monday, May 12

Washington Capitals @ Carolina Hurricanes – Game 4 – 4:00 PM PT

The Carolina Hurricanes lead the series 2–1 as they host the Washington Capitals in Game 4. After a dominant 4–0 victory in Game 3, the Hurricanes look to extend their lead after Jack Roslovic led the way, contributing a goal and an assist. The Capitals aim to bounce back though and even the series before returning home.

Vegas Golden Knights @ Edmonton Oilers – Game 4 – 6:30 PM PT

The Edmonton Oilers hold a 2–1 series lead as they host the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 4. Vegas reignited their playoff hopes with a dramatic 4–3 victory in Game 3, capped by Reilly Smith's game-winning goal with under a second remaining. However, the win came at a cost, as captain Mark Stone exited in the first period due to an upper-body injury and is listed as a game time decision tonight. The Golden Knights will look to tie the series, while the Oilers aim to regain momentum on home ice.
