NHL Playoff Drama Big Wins Set the Stage for Late April Showdowns

Sunday’s NHL Playoff Game Highlights


Washington Capitals 5, Montreal Canadiens 2

The Capitals took a commanding 3–1 series lead with a 5–2 victory over the Canadiens. Brandon Duhaime netted two goals, and Andrew Mangiapane scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period.


St. Louis Blues 5, Winnipeg Jets 1

The Blues evened their series with the Jets at 2–2, scoring three goals in the second period. Brayden Schenn, Tyler Tucker, and Justin Faulk each contributed to the scoring surge.


Carolina Hurricanes 5, New Jersey Devils 2

The Hurricanes maintained control of their series, taking a 3–1 lead over the Devils. Carolina's offense proved too much for New Jersey, who now face elimination Tuesday on the road.


Edmonton Oilers 4, Los Angeles Kings 3 (OT)

In a thrilling matchup, the Oilers edged the Kings 4–3 in late OT, tying the series at 2–2. After falling behind 2-0 Edmonton scored 4 of the next 5 goals including Leon Draisaitl's power play goal over 17 minutes into overtime.
