Last Night’s NHL Playoff Highlights
Florida Panthers 5, Toronto Maple Leafs 4 (OT) – Game 3
The Florida Panthers clawed their way back into the series with a dramatic 5–4 overtime victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Panthers already had an up hill battle, but that wasn't enough for them as they let up a goal only 23 seconds into the game. This was followed by another one just minutes later putting them in a 2-0 hole before the game was even 6 minutes in. Then Florida finally woke up, started chipping away, and even took the lead in the 2nd period before Morgan Rielly's equalizer for the Leafs in the third. This set up Brad Marchand to net the game-winner at 15:27 of OT. With their backs up against the wall, Florida overcame two separate two-goal deficits to get the series to stand at 2–1 in favor of Toronto. They will look to build on the newly found momentum on Sunday when Game 4 gets underway.
Winnipeg Jets 4, Dallas Stars 0 – Game 2
The Winnipeg Jets evened their series with the Dallas Stars, shutting them out 4–0 in Game 2. Nikolaj Ehlers led the offense with two goals and an assist, while goaltender Connor Hellebuyck finally played like he had in the regular season to help the Jets to the Presidents' Trophy and stopped all 21 shots he faced for his first shutout of the 2025 playoffs. The series shifts to Dallas for Game 3 on Sunday.
Tonight’s Games – Saturday, May 10
Washington Capitals @ Carolina Hurricanes – Game 3 – 3:00 PM PT
With the series tied 1–1, the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes face off in a pivotal Game 3 in the Canes home barn. The Capitals hope to build on their momentum and take back home ice advantage after they secured a 3–1 victory in Game 2, thanks to a strong performance from goaltender Logan Thompson, who made 27 saves. The Hurricanes meanwhile will look to regain the spark they showed in Game 1 when they were able to steal an overtime win on the road.
Vegas Golden Knights @ Edmonton Oilers – Game 3 – 6:00 PM PT
The Edmonton Oilers return home with a commanding 2–0 series lead over the Vegas Golden Knights. After a thrilling and physical 5–4 overtime win in Game 2, the Oilers aim to extend their lead, while the Golden Knights seek to bounce back and avoid falling into a 3–0 hole.
This is the Knights and Oilers second ever NHL Playoff series with Vegas taking the previous 2023 matchup in 6 games. While their margin for error is now slimmer than ever the Golden Knights have never been swept in a playoff series and have rallied back from a 2-0 series deficit before when they took down the Colorado Avalanche in 6 games in 2021.
