WNBA All-Star Game Recap: Collier & Diggins Set The Bar As Team Collier Dominates
Tonight in Indy, Team Collier routed Team Clark 151–131, setting a new WNBA All-Star scoring record—151 team points, the most ever in league history.
Napheesa Collier (Minnesota Lynx) exploded for 36 points and 9 rebounds in just 19 minutes, taking down the previous All-Star record of 34. She earned MVP honors and was unstoppable on the court.
Skylar Diggins (Seattle Storm) also came off the bench to record the first-ever All-Star triple-double with 15 assists, 11 rebounds, 11 points.
The event seemed a little like a kids game though, as traditional rules were put aside. Live subbing was allowed so players could just run on and off the court. Also, free throws were being counted as automatic points until the last 2 minutes of the fourth quarter.
With Friday night's success, it seemed to be a step back, as even the commentators were joking about needing the refs to do a dance for the new 4 point shots instead of the normal raising of the hand for 3 pointers.
The league will start up regular season games again on Tuesday, with the Las Vegas Aces taking on the Atlanta Dream at home along with 4 other prime time match ups.
