The Aces began their season today, May 17, with a high-profile matchup against the defending champions, the New York Liberty.
A'ja Wilson led the Aces with an impressive 31 points and 16 rebounds. Jackie Young added 16 points, while Chelsea Gray and Dana Evans contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively. Despite their efforts, the Aces were defeated 92–78 by the Liberty, who were led by Breanna Stewart's 25 points and 8 rebounds. While Natasha Cloud added 22 points and 9 assists in her debut with the team after being traded for in the offseason.
This was the first of 3 regular season match ups between the two league front runners with the next coming in July back in New York.
