Some surprise outcomes shook up the rankings this past week:
(16)Texas A&M’s thriller over (8)Notre Dame 41-40 — The weekend's headline upset, sending the Aggies into the top 10 and dropping Notre Dame dramatically in the poll.
Vanderbilt 31 vs. (11)South Carolina 7 — Vandy’s defense forced three turnovers, while the Gamecocks’ offense never clicked.
Georgia Tech 24, (12)Clemson 21 — The Yellow Jackets stifled Clemson before hitting a 55 yard field goal as time expired to seal the upset.
To escape an upset — (6)Georgia pulled off a comeback in OT at (15)Tennessee, battling from behind to remain undefeated.
Nebraska’s Blowout
The Cornhuskers had another dominant win: Nebraska 59, HCU 7 with Dylan Raiola throwing for 222 yards and two touchdowns as he only played the first half where they held a 38-0 lead. Emmett Johnson added 78 rushing yards and 2 rushing TDs, as the running game had another pivotal performance.
They amassed 554 total yards and held HCU to under 200 yards. Defense, offense, and special teams all showed up. While the opponent level (HCU is in the FCS) tempers some hype, it was a statement performance and gives Nebraska steam heading into tougher matchups with next week being their biggest test so far in (21)Michigan.
