Las Vegas Aces’ Streak Snapped & Do-or-Die Ahead
Last night, the Las Vegas Aces saw their 17-game winning streak come to a heartbreaking end as they dropped Game 2 of their first-round playoff series against the Seattle Storm, 86-83. Skylar Diggins poured in 26 points, Nneka Ogwumike posted a double-double with 24 points and 10 boards. While the Aces had Jackie Young lead in points with 25 and A'ja Wilson record another playoff double double of her own at 21 points and 13 rebounds.
The Aces had built a solid lead in the second half, but holding a 9 point lead with just over 4 minutes left in the fourth quarter the Storm outscored them 16-4 over the final span, leaving Las Vegas unable to close it out.
Now the pressure is on as Game 3 is set for Thursday in Las Vegas, a single elimination showdown for both squads. Win or go home.
Other Game 2 Results + Game 3 Vs The Storm
Here’s how things shaped up in the other playoff Game 2s, and what’s next:
Phoenix Mercury dominated the New York Liberty 86-60 in Game 2 to even their series, riding a strong second quarter and causing 15 Liberty turnovers that turned the tide.
Indiana Fever beat the Atlanta Dream 77-60 in Game 2, handing the Dream their first playoff loss of the postseason and sending the series to a winner-take-all Game 3.
Minnesota Lynx edged out the Golden State Valkyries 75-74 in a thriller to complete the sweep. Even though Golden State held a big lead for much of the game, the Lynx pulled them back in the fourth and sealed it in the final seconds.
So, the picture: three series tied 1-1. Game 3s across the board are must-wins. For the Aces, with home court in the finale, Thursday is a chance to reset, reclaim momentum, and prove they’re still Championship-contenders.
