Las Vegas Aces Survive Thriller vs Storm, Advance to Semis

Last night, the Las Vegas Aces edged out the Seattle Storm 74-73 in Game 3 to win the first round and punch their ticket to the WNBA Semifinals. Jackie Young hit the go-ahead follow-up with just 12.4 seconds left, and A’ja Wilson poured in 38 points, tying a playoff career high.

In a back-and-forth battle down the stretch, the Aces held their composure when it mattered. The Storm had tied the game late, but crucial defensive stops sealed a razor-thin win.

Semifinals Matchups Set — Aces vs Fever on Deck

With Liberty’s elimination tonight thanks to Alyssa Thomas' first ever 20 point triple double in the WNBA postseason, the semifinal round is now all locked in. The four teams moving on are:

• Las Vegas Aces (No. 2 seed)

• Indiana Fever (No. 6 seed)

• Minnesota Lynx (top seed)

• Phoenix Mercury (No. 4 seed)

The Aces will matchup against the Fever in the Semifinals.

Here’s the schedule for that series: the semifinal best-of-five begins Sunday, September 21 in Las Vegas. They’ll also host Game 2 at home on Tuesday, September 23, before shifting to Indiana for Game 3 on Friday, September 26. If needed, subsequent games follow in that same 2 and move format, with the Aces holding court in game 5 if necessary as the higher seed.

Vegas went 1-2 in the regular season vs Indiana with each home team winning the game, but now home court and momentum give them an edge. The Fever will have to continue to lean on Kelsey Mitchell and whatever bench contributions they get in a tough test as two of their stars are out for the year in Catlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham.
