Las Vegas Aces Drop Game 1 to Fever
The championship seeking Las Vegas Aces find themselves in recently unfamiliar territory after dropping Game 1 of their semifinal series to the Indiana Fever. In front of a packed home arena, the Aces couldn’t match Indiana’s surge, falling 89–73. Kelsey Mitchell poured in 34 points for the Fever, while the Aces’ Jackie Young led Vegas with 19 points.
For Las Vegas, it’s only the second time in the past 20 games that they have had to take the loss. But, in the second half of the season they have been able to adjust properly and come out on top when it matters most.
Game 2 Back at Home Tuesday
Game 2 tips off Tuesday night back in Vegas, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. The Aces can’t afford to head to Indiana down 0–2 in a best-of-five series. Expect head coach Becky Hammon to make adjustments to slow Mitchell and put the ball more in Wilson’s hands earlier.
Fans will also be watching whether Las Vegas can rediscover its momentum it had coming into the playoffs. With two days of off filled with practice and film study, the Aces have a chance to reset, feed off their home crowd again, and even the series before heading to a raucous Indianapolis for Games 3 and 4.
