MLB Wild Card: Dodgers Sweep, Three Series Go The Distance

MLB Wild Card Dodgers Sweep, Three Series Go The Distance

MLB Wild Card Round Recap

The first round of October baseball is already delivering plenty of drama. After two days of action, only one team has secured a spot in the Divisional Series—the Los Angeles Dodgers. L.A. swept their best-of-three MLB Wild Card matchup vs the Cincinnati Reds in commanding fashion, showing why they’re one of the most dangerous clubs in October yet again.

The other three series? They’re all going to a winner-take-all Game 3. Every matchup (Tigers-Game 1 W at Guardians-Game 2 W, Padres-Game 2 W at Cubs-Game 1 W , and Red Sox-Game 1 W at Yankees-Game 2 W) delivered so far, with teams trading blows and momentum swinging inning by inning. That’s the beauty of the short series—one bad inning can flip everything. By the end of Thursday night, we’ll know exactly which squads will join the next round.

Divisional Series Hosts Set

While the Wild Card battles wrap up, the stage is already set for the Divisional Series starting Saturday. The four teams holding home-field advantage are:

  • Milwaukee Brewers hosting Cubs/Padres

  • Toronto Blue Jays hosting Yankees/Red Sox

  • Seattle Mariners hosting Tigers/Guardians

  • Philadelphia Phillies hosting Dodgers

These clubs have been waiting patiently, resting their rotations and lining up their bullpens for the grind ahead. Whoever survives Thursday’s Game 3 matchups will walk straight into the lion’s den against some of the league’s most complete and playoff-tested rosters. Expect fireworks right out of the gate.
