Rockets 119, Lakers 96

Houston stunned Los Angeles with energy and pace, overwhelming the Lakers early and never letting them find rhythm in a decisive Christmas Day rout.

Nuggets 142, Timberwolves 138 (OT)

The nightcap lived up to the hype as Denver outlasted Minnesota in overtime, showcasing elite shot making and composure in one of the most entertaining games of the day.

A Look Back at NBA Christmas Day History

The NBA’s Christmas tradition dates all the way back to 1947, when the New York Knicks defeated the Providence Steamrollers 89–75 at Madison Square Garden. Since then, Christmas Day basketball has become one of the league’s most iconic stages.

The NBA has played games on Christmas every year except 1998, when a lockout canceled half the season.

Some notable Christmas Day milestones:

  • New York Knicks hold the record for most Christmas games played with 58

  • Miami Heat boast the best winning percentage among current teams at .857 (12–2)

  • LeBron James owns the record for most Christmas Day wins by a player with 11

  • Bernard King set the single game scoring record with 60 points on Christmas Day in 1984, despite his Knicks losing to the New Jersey Nets

From historic performances to modern day classics, Christmas Day remains one of the NBA’s biggest stages for legacy moments.
