NBA Trades In Full Swing Before Draft

Biggest Postseason NBA Trade So Far Sees Kevin Durant Go To Houston Rockets (Suns → Rockets)

The Phoenix Suns have traded Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft, and five second-rounders.

The Rockets now place their franchise in the aging hands of Durant, who has been a league side note since leaving the Golden State Warriors. They gave up key players/picks to hope the 36 year old who will be 37 by the start of next season still has something left in the tank and will sign an extension with them, as he is set to start the final year of his current contract. While KD in his heyday was great and basically an unstoppable player, his last stops have been unproductive and basically only good for ticket sales. However, if he does produce like they plan, this could be what the Rockets need to push them over the hump.

Jrue Holiday To Portland Trail Blazers (Celtics → Blazers)

In another big NBA trade, Boston is sending veteran guard Jrue Holiday to Portland for Anfernee Simons and two second-round picks.

  • Celtics' benefit: Boston sheds $40M in upcoming luxury tax, freeing up money after Jayson Tatum’s Achilles injury.

  • Portland's gain: Adds playoff-tested leadership and perimeter defense.

The biggest question to most is does this actually improve the Celtics, or only save them money while they await Tatum's return.
