Texas Repeats As WCWS Champions, Sweeping Texas Tech For Second Straight Title

Texas Champions Again

The Women's College World Series came to an end Thursday night with Texas once again sitting on top of college softball.

In a championship series rematch, the Longhorns defeated Texas Tech in two straight games to capture their second consecutive national championship. After winning Game 1, Texas completed the sweep with a 4-1 victory in Game 2, ending another impressive postseason run and solidifying its place among the sport's elite programs.

Texas faced adversity throughout the tournament after losing its opening game in Oklahoma City. Instead of folding, the Longhorns battled through the elimination bracket and rattled off a series of clutch performances to reach the finals before taking down Texas Tech for the title.

Teagan Kavan Makes WCWS History

A major reason for Texas' success was pitcher Teagan Kavan, who was named the Women's College World Series Most Outstanding Player for the second straight year.

Kavan became the first player in WCWS history to win the award twice, further cementing her place among the best pitchers in college softball. She delivered several dominant performances throughout the tournament and helped shut the door on Texas Tech in the championship clinching victory.

With two national championships and two Most Outstanding Player awards already on her résumé, Kavan has established herself as one of the biggest stars in the game.
