Panthers Dominate Game 3 Of NHL Finals in Florida
The Florida Panthers roared at home with a commanding 6‑1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3 of the NHL Finals, taking a 2–1 series lead. They came out of the gates firing and scoring their first goal only 56 seconds into the game and then built a 4–1 lead by the end of the second period. Brad Marchand got thing started before Carter Verhaeghe, Sam Reinhart, and Sam Bennett added additional goals before the third. Then Aaron Ekblad, and Rodrigues added two more in the third to throw salt on the Edmonton's wound. The Oilers more than struggled with discipline, racking up 11 power play opportunities for Florida, and finishing with the most penalty minutes by one team in the NHL Finals since 1986 at 85 minutes. This was on top of another outstanding game by Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, as he delivered 32 saves, while Edmonton staring goalie Stuart Skinner was pulled after allowing 5 goals on just 18 shots.
What This Means
The Panthers now have home ice and momentum firmly in their hands. With a strong defensive system and clutch scoring, they hold a definite advantage in the series—but the Oilers have shown fight in earlier rounds that could be a problem if they can recapture it.
Game 4 Preview: Panthers Look To Tighten Grip
The series stays in Florida for Game 4, with puck drop scheduled for Thursday. Expect major adjustments from the Oilers as they failed to keep their composure in Game 3. While Florida will seek to keep things just the way they have played out the last two games after their double OT win in Game 2 and domination in Game 3.
