Las Vegas Golden Knights Fall Just Short Against the Panthers 3–2
The Las Vegas Golden Knights were looking to respond after a pair of tough results, but once again, the final bounce didn’t go their way. The Florida Panthers walked out of T-Mobile Arena with a 3–2 win, handing Vegas another close loss in a game that felt like it could’ve swung either direction, and handing Vegas their first certified losing streak of the year.
Neither team came out fast and created pressure early, but Florida's ability to maintain puck control and working the forecheck to generate quality chances proved too much. But while the Knights match the intensity they came up short as they still prove their scoring can come from deep in their roster as 5 different players scored a point (3 assists & 2 goals).
Scoring Recap & Key Stats
Team | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | Final |
Florida Panthers | 1 | 1 | 1 | 3 |
Vegas Golden Knights | 0 | 0 | 2 | 2 |
Golden Knights Notables:
Tomas Hertl: 1 Goal
Ivan Barbashev: 1 Goal
Mitch Marner: 1 Assist
Brayden Mcnabb: 1 Assist
Shea Theodore: 1 Assist
Florida capitalized on a game sealing goal in the third period going up 3-1 at the time. Vegas continued to skate with energy and pushed hard down the stretch, including strong final shifts gaining to 3-2 on the Panthers, but ultimately couldn’t find the tying goal.
The Knights are still firmly in the thick of the Pacific Division race still sitting in second place but the margins are thin as 4 teams are tied with 18 points as well, and stacking points is becoming increasingly urgent.
Up Next: Islanders Come to Town Thursday
The New York Islanders roll into Vegas on Thursday, bringing another hefty opponent. They’re a squad that thrives in low-scoring, grind-it-out games, which means Vegas will need:
clean exits out of the defensive zone
traffic in front of the net
strong goalie play
This becomes a crucial comeback opportunity. A win can stabilize the current skid. A loss makes the standings very early grind that much tougher.
Expect a playoff-style feel, physical, tense, and loud under the Vegas lights.
