Panthers Dominate NHL Finals Game 5 & Now Sit One Win Away From Repeat

Panthers Command Game 5, One Win from Repeat

The Florida Panthers roared back in Game 5, slamming the Edmonton Oilers 5–2 in Edmonton to take a 3–2 series lead in the NHL Finals. Brad Marchand recorded a two-goal night—bringing his tally to six for the series. While Sam Bennett delivered his 15th postseason goal. Eetu Luostarinen also delivered a goal and an assist on top of Marchand's two goals for another impressive two point night. Meanwhile, Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky made 19 saves with his adversary for Edmonton, Calvin Pickard who took over after multiple benchings of Stuart Skinner made only 14. The Oilers as a team struggled from the beginning only netting third period goals from Connor McDavid and Corey Perry while recording no multipoint players. Florida’s blend of timely offense and shutdown defense has now put them on the brink of hoisting the cup again.

NHL Finals Game 6 Preview: Will Panthers Seal or Oilers Extend?

If the Oilers want to force a dramatic Game 7 on home ice, they'll need a major response in Game 6 on Tuesday in Florida. The Panthers aim to clinch a repeat Stanley Cup title, led by their depth, tight defense, and Bobrovsky’s hot goaltending. While Edmonton stars McDavid and Draisaitl must take command again if they wish to move the series to a deciding Game 7.
